This three-floor cottage has recently been transformed from a complete wreck to a strikingly picturesque home. While using solid modern construction techniques, the renovation has been achieved in a style that exemplifies the former character of Corfu's village houses. Despite insensitive renovations over the last few decades (over-rendering of old stonework, plastic paints, aluminium windows etc), Varipatades, with its winding streets and stepped alleyways, has retained much of its prettiness; this house shows how the aesthetic environment can profit from a return to tradition.

As much as possible of the fabric of the building has been retained, and replacement installations are mostly traditional reused items or craftsman-made copies.

The cottage has road access (for a smallish car) almost to the main door from the main village street. Vehicle access from the other side (from the lower part of the village) allows street-side parking about 50 metres away - rare in this village. The house is for sale furnished with quality items and some antiques, and is also fully equipped. All the paperwork is ready for a quick transfer.

This is a perfect little holiday bolt-hole for a couple, and one that would require minimal maintenance when not in use. One to fall in love with!
